Off to the Land of the Morning Calm (Our SoKor Family Trip)

5:39 PM 42 Comments A+ a-

Just a couple of days after we got our approved visa to South Korea (SoKor) is our flight via AirAsia. I didn't told the kids about that until their first day of second periodical exam. I told them that if they don't do well and study, they wouldn't go with us to SoKor. Of course I was just fooling around. Heck! Tickets and hotels are already paid for. So there's no reason for us to cancel the vacation.

So the flight was a breeze, thanks to AirAsia (read review here). And I'm so relieved that we were able to pass the Philippine immigration without so much fuss. I was actually worried when we were at NAIA Terminal 3 that we might become victims of that laglag-bala  modus since it's very easy for us to lose sight of our luggage for a bit while tagging the kids along.

As soon as we went out of the plane, we can already feel the cold temperature outside. Good thing we were equipped with the right clothes and I packed enough jackets for the kids to feel comfortable. The bus ride to our hotel in Myeongdong was about an hour away. We went down to Myeongdong station and we can already see the top of Pacific Hotel. Despite the bags and the kids in tow, we didn't had a hard time crossing the street and reaching the hotel because everyone was simply well-disciplined. I'm not surprised with how things are here. Just like in Singapore, Japan, and other Asian countries, Koreans also follow the rules just like. That's what we SHOULD do anyway.

It was already 3 PM when we were able to settle down at the room. Pacific Hotel deserves a separate review so I'll make a different blog post for this in case you are travelling to SoKor anytime soon. Anyway, we only took a rest for a bit then immediately went out to check the local restaurants. Fortunately, just right beside it was a 24-hour food establishment. I forgot the name but they definitely served us great food. We all took time tasting everything served while my youngest munched on Two Two Chicken takeout order which is just across the street.

After taking advantage of the unlimited servings of side dishes (kimchi pa more!) we decided to head back to the hotel and rest for a while. Na-food coma kami talaga! What was shown in the photos were just the first set. We doubled the order of the same group meal. Rated PG lang! The kids just showered a bit to freshen up then we headed down to the Myeongdong shopping area across the street.

Korea is really maximizing the use of their underpasses. I loved the presence of retail stores below. Not only that it's inviting to shop around but it makes me feel safe since the area is well lit. We reached the Myeongdong market and in no time, we started munching again!

sana ganito din kabongga ang divisoria

with my pabebe parents

This is a beautiful country with lots of beautiful people as well. I surely did enjoyed our stay in Korea, especially the kids since we went to other attractions like the Snow Park and Everland (posting soon). But I would definitely miss the most is their free super fast wifi everywhere! Samantalang dito, damutan pa sa wifi password hahahah!

Have you been to SoKor too? Maybe you can recommend other places I should take note of in case we go back with the fambam!

xoxo

i don't think they would cause trouble sa passengers with kids. we were actually acting like they were very handful (kahit hindi) para kahit papano they would just let us pass without any airport hassle =D

We're planning to go this Holiday season. So excited! I'm just concerned about the cold because that would mean bringing thick and bulky jackets. Hehe.
