What You Can Learn from the Friendly Feud that is Ms. Universe 2015

Every time there is a major event that involves a Filipino personality, it's like our Pinoy lives are always put on hold. Other than Pacquiao fights, there's no doubt that Ms. Universe is also one of the rarest moments where we can see how wide really EDSA is.

And unless you live in a cave or simply not interested in anything that shouts "Pinoy pride", you are completely aware of the recent controversy that enveloped the latter part of the Ms. Universe 2015. Honestly, I wasn't able to watch the Q&A portion of the event and only watched the replay prior to the announcement of the winner. During the commercial breaks, I was able to get a grasp who among Ms. USA, Ms. Columbia, and Ms. Philippines will get the crown. Not because I'm biased, but Pia Wurtzbach really hit it spot on.

With all the drama and bashing, particularly on Steve Harvey, what else can we get from the Ms. Universe 2015 fiasco?

Try and Try Until You Win

during Bb. Pilipinas coronation
Pia was determined to reach her dream - to become part of the Ms. U and to win that crown. It was surely not all fun and glamour as she worked her ass out to get that figure, discipline, poise, and grace under pressure. So whether it is your fitness goal, a new job, that house you're eyeing on or even the mere goal of wearing a size 2 pants, make sure that you keep on trying until you get what you want!

Confidence is the Key

Despite the support and cheers from Filipinos, we can't avoid having people who doesn't believe that Pia will win. Others are annoyed with how she speaks (or tweets?) and answers questions saying that she was arrogant or overconfident. But remember ladies, if you don't believe in yourself first, who else will?

Grace Under Stressful Moments

While looking all stupefied when Steve announced the blunder during the announcement of the winner, Pia tried to calm down and still appear regal despite it all. I guess that's what they were trained for right? So maintain your poise and grace even if the house is a mess, the laundry has piled up, and the dog just pooped on the bedroom (yeah, #hugot here!)

The same goes for Ms. Columbia. I admire her for being such a great sport even though she was already at the peak of her Almost Miss U happiness. When interviewed backstage, there weren't any bitterness on her tone even if she was still trying to stop herself from crying. She still managed to smile and thank those who voted for her.

Have the Balls to Man Up to Your Mistakes

Yes, the boos and bashing goes a lot to none other than the host himself, Steve Harvey. It was a big time booboo especially for such big event where all contestants wait in vain as they hope for their country's name to be called. But hey! He immediately apologized and man up to this pageant catastrophe. The Family Feud host can actually leave and let the officials of Ms. Universe say that there was a big mistake in announcing the winner, but he didn't. The damage was done and if there's somebody who felt so terrible that day, it's probably him.  I give my praises to him for apologizing immediately and even talking to Pia personally right after the pageant. Of course, I'm not sure how I would feel if it's the other way around.

So all you mudras, gays, and all Pinoys out there who watched the highly anticipated and currently controversial Ms. U, what can you say about the recent event? Did you also screamed and jumped when they announced that it was actually Pia who won? Because I did! Let me know your reactions and don't hesitate to shout some Pinoy pride in here.

xoxo

Definitely you're right. From the Q&A, you will indeed know that Pia nailed it. So happy for her win. I literally jumped and shouted when Steven Harvey said "I need to apologize.."

Since the Miss U was telecast live morning in the Philippines, I wasn't able to watch it and see for myself the blunder because I was at work. Huh! I checked Miss U page from time to time and later saw Pia's photo as the new Miss Universe before we even know what had happened. Thank goodness to people who upload fast and furious we were able to see the epic scene on YouTube. Pia truly is confidently beautiful with a heart.

I have to salute Steve for having the balls to correct his mistake and taking all the responsibility on that mistake.
